Today I had the pleasure of meeting Albanian MP, Rudina Hajdari (Democratic Party) in my capacity as Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Albania.
Also at the meeting was John Whittingdale MP who led the latest delegation of UK parliamentarians to Albania.
This year, Rudina returned to Albania from the US in a bid to help revive her party following allegations of past corruption and bad governance.
Rudina’s father, Azem Hajdari, was one of the co-founders of the Democratic Party in December 1990 - Albania's first non-Communist party to be established after more than four decades of authoritarian rule. He was assassinated in 1998.
Having spent several years working as a staff associate for the US House of Representatives’ foreign affairs committee, Rudina believes she can serve her party and country.
