Martin has joined over 500 other MPs to plant trees as part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy, a network of forest conservation initiatives to mark Her Majesty's lifetime of service to the Commonwealth.
Martin has pledged his support to Pancreatic Cancer UK’s campaign demanding faster treatment for people with pancreatic cancer – one in four patients with the disease die within a month of diagnosis making it the quickest killing cancer.
Martin has spoken out in favour of Sara Thornton, the chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council who has said that the police need to re-focus more on dealing with such issues as burglary and violent crime rather than allegations against dead people and some lesser hate crimes.
