Martin is continuing to prioritize the concerns of local residents regarding the National Grid’s proposed Grimsby to Walpole high-voltage transmission line.
Following a recent follow-up meeting with project representatives, Martin urged National Grid again to take note of the significant anxieties shared by local residents. He pressed them to ensure that, wherever possible, the pylons are routed as far as possible from residential properties. Furthermore, he reiterated his call for the use of underground cabling in particularly sensitive areas to mitigate the visual and environmental impact on the constituency.
Martin said, “I have met with National Grid once more to reinforce the message that the current proposals remain a source of great concern for my constituents. I urged them again to take note of the concerns of residents.
“While the transition to a cleaner energy grid is necessary, it must not be achieved by disregarding the landscape and the wellbeing of those who live within it. I will continue to hold National Grid to account as this process moves toward the formal application stage in 2027.”
