Yesterday, Martin attended the RWE Community Benefit Parliamentary Showcase Event, an event which focused on the benefits for communities that host renewable energy infrastructure.
RWE is the leading power generator in the UK, and a leading renewables developer, generating enough power for around 12 million homes, through a diverse portfolio of wind, solar, hydro, biomass, and gas. Each year, renewable energy projects operated by RWE across the UK invest more than £6.1 million into community funds to help foster growth, resilience and sustainability within local communities. By the end of December 2024, UK renewable energy projects operated by RWE had invested more than £44.7 million in community benefits. Over their lifetimes, RWE projects either in operation or construction will invest over £160 million in local communities.
RWE's showcase event, which was hosted by neighbor Melanie Onn (MP for Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes), was an opportunity to hear first-hand from the transformational local projects and communities benefiting across the UK. This included representatives that have benefitted from the local Humber Gateway Offshore Wind Farm community benefit fund.
