Today, Martin attended the World Book Day drop-in event in Portcullis House to show his support for the national campaign. The annual event focuses on the importance of reading for pleasure and the impact it has on a child's future success. Martin met with organizers to discuss how the scheme helps children from all backgrounds access books through the £1 book token initiative, which allows pupils to choose a book of their own at no cost.
Following the event, Martin said: "World Book Day is a great opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading and the benefits it brings to young minds It was a pleasure to attend the event in Parliament and support a campaign that makes books more accessible for every child, regardless of background. Reading is a vital skill, and I encourage families across the constituency to make use of their book tokens and visit our local libraries to help children discover the joy and magic of reading."
