Martin recently attended a parliamentary reception hosted by the Taskforce for Lung Health to mark the launch of their new report, ‘Breathing Life into the NHS’.
During the event, Martin met with clinicians, researchers, and patients - including Ron, who shared his powerful story of living with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and eventually receiving a double lung transplant. The reception highlighted the urgent need for a respiratory Modern Service Framework (MSF) to ensure consistent, high-quality lung care, reduce health inequalities, and improve patient outcomes across the country, including in the Brigg and Immingham constituency.
Martin, "It was incredibly moving to hear from patients at the Taskforce for Lung Health’s reception and to learn more about the vital work being done to support the millions of people living with respiratory conditions.
"With one in six people affected by lung conditions, it is clear that we need a more consistent national approach to respiratory care. Improving lung health is not only crucial for patients and their families, but it also plays a key role in reducing health inequalities and easing the pressure on our NHS.
"I am pleased to support the call for a respiratory Modern Service Framework so that patients in our constituency and across the UK can access the high-quality, reliable care they deserve."
