Earlier today, Martin attended a parliamentary drop-in event titled ‘Decoding Data Centres’. The event, sponsored by VIRTUS Data Centres, brought together industry leaders, engineers, and policymakers to discuss the growing importance of digital infrastructure in the UK.

Data centres have recently been designated as Critical National Infrastructure. They are essential for supporting cloud computing, financial services, and the development of AI, while also driving regional economic growth and creating skilled jobs.

Martin commented: “I attended this event to ensure I am better informed about the role data centres play in our national infrastructure. It is important for me to engage directly with those working in the sector so that I am better able to correspond with constituents on this issue and understand the impact of future digital investments.”
